Mr. Brightside can stay I caught The Killers show last night. Verrrrry glad I went. Tegan and Sara were the opening act. I'm ashamed to say I never paid much attention to them despite their being "Calgary-girls-making-it-big." Now I'm hooked; thoroughly impressed. Consequently I bought their latest CD and 6 buttons from their souvenir stand. To those of you attending Coachella this weekend, I reccommend checking them out. 2nd stage, 5:30pm, May 1st. I would've bought Killers memorabilia but I didn't like the t-shirts. And the tote bag they were selling, though now I'm suffering from lack-of-buying-remorse, didn't seem worth the cash at the time. There were quite a few young'uns at the show. It sort of killed the vibe. The two girls sitting next to me looked like they were in junior high, complete with a father/chaperone in tow. As they bent their knees in a foolish bop and awkwardly/self-consciously throwing a random fist in the air I
Wouldn't it be nice? Since I didn't have to work till late today I once again indulged in my guilty pleasure for the afternoon: All My Children. It must run in the family blood or something. My dad has watched it off and on ever since he immigrated here over 30 years ago. He then introduced it to my grandma and my mom and I've watched bits and pieces of it ever since I was born, I'm sure. I've had my little stints with General Hospital but I just didn't get attached to it the way I'm drawn to All My Children. Anyway, I digress. Our local network always pops in a 3 minute or so news update on stories of interest health-wise. Today's segment really caught my fancy. Apparently the University of Calgary is doing research on the amazing cancer-destroying ability of a common virus. I wish you could see the computer simulation I saw on TV this afternoon. I was excited. They didn't mention whether or not they're doing any research on how this v
"It's going to be a bright (bright) bright sunshiny day" Friday the weather forecast was predicting a high of 22 degrees. We were hitting the 20's! As luck would have it, it was my day off. But also as luck would have it, I was the only one with a day off, so nothing really got going until 5. Ah well, we still had a good 4 hours of sunshine left. I boogied on downtown (I miss downtown) with my family's taxes in tow. Yeah, I'm Asian like that, save money on postage by dropping them off at the government building in person. Had a little package to give to Posie and that's just wonderful since she works in the government building, too. Then I strolled around Olympic Plaza, picked up my tickets to the Killers over at the Ticketmaster, sashayed my way down Stephen Avenue...wow, the patios were loaded with people taking advantage of the weather. Finally deposited my GST cheque into my bank account and with impeccable timing Civic phoned me up and had p
Thanks Thank you to everyone for your warm birthday wishes. My birthday rocked this year, though my companions keep switching up. Schedules are a tough thing to work around, phew. Pictures shall be forthcoming. I'm horrible about taking forever to finish a roll of film. What I wouldn't give for even a cheapo digital camera most days. Posie took some pictures with her camera phone. I looked hot :) I should try and see if she can send them to me. Dinner was held at Latin Corner. Kickass mojitos all around! In attendance were Baby Sis and Weird Kid (Weird Kid's girlfriend had to work *pouts*), Spydermonkey, Posie, Civic, Daisy, a friend from my university days, and a guy my friend met at the hostel where she was staying. Much to Daisy's delight, the guy was British. Much to everyone else's delight, he was a magician. All these years and I finally get a magic show on my birthday! He's a darling, he's staying in Calgary for a year. Hopefully I'
Discipline I really want to get back into the swing of things. I barely blog anymore (as some of you may have noted) and even my gym regimen and job hunt are practically at a standstill. I don't even have a good reason for it all. It's certainly not because I've become a bigger couch potato. I haven't been watching my tv addictions (Sex and the City marathons on Mondays, Amazing Race, American Idol, and The Apprentice) with much regularity. It used to be I'd even tape episodes I was going to miss. Not anymore. Poker has taken up some of my time lately, but not so much that I can't do anything else. Weird Kid got me into it. I don't watch those poker tournaments, nor do I bet with money (yet, haha), I'm just into it. I've even started playing a little at PokerRoom.com when there's noone else to play with and I'm feeling the itch. Only play money, of course, and at the "micro" tables to top it all off. I'm the total op
