We had a dinner sponsored by the Maui Tourism Bureau to attend last nite. The food was excellent and they had hula dancers and ukelele players and everything. It is one of the best industry dinners I've been to so far! I'm also in love with Hawaii now. I think Lilo and Stitch peaked my interest in the state first. But after seeing all those videos and everything, I'm completely enamored with it all. I'd rather go to Maui than Honolulu, it looks less crowded and more paradise-like. Unfortunately, I didn't win the trip there last nite, but that's ok 'cuz I'll get there someday. I wonder if I could fool anyone by saying I'm Hawaiian. I remember when I was a lil girl my dad used to mess with tourist's heads when they asked us what we "were" and sometimes he'd say Hawaiian. Others assumed we were Native American. When we were in Florida a friend was asked if he was an Eskimo. Lately I've been having people mistake me as Chinese (though I can't figure out HOW they come to that conclusion). It's interesting to hear peoples' guesses. I won a video of Maui at the dinner and I showed it to my parents last nite. I think I've swayed them away from the Alaskan cruise. Yes!!! Beach time for me!
They taught us a lil bit of hula, I'd love to learn more. It's so graceful and everything. I really love ethnic dances. I remember volunteering as stage hand for the Cultural Nite the Filipino Students Association at U of C held. I had wish I had volunteered earlier so I could've been one of the dancers. I wanted to learn those dances so much. Another dance I love is the Salsa, even though that's trendy right now...it makes it easier to find somewhere to learn, though! I took a sample course in Salsa and Merengue and was immediately hooked. I've learnt a bit of Flamenco from university spanish class. I also want to learn Belly Dancing, thanks to the influence of Shakira. I think Shakira is a great dancer (it's all about the hips!) and someone told me she's incorporated belly dancing with her latin moves and that's how she dances so kewl. If I could perfect my hip isolation like that I would be so proud of myself!
Civic (formerly referred to as C) and I went for lunch at Taco Bell. I'm sooooo full. Gotta love Chalupas and Fries Supreme, though.
I'm pretty sure Misfit hates me now, I haven't heard from him online since the day I didn't show up. That's really unlike him since he always seems to be online. I probably insulted him by thinking I might get away with my lame excuse. It's not the nicest way to end things, but it's better than dragging it on, I guess.
