HAPPY HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! I'm so sad I didn't dress up for work today, I feel like such a fuddy-duddy. (And using that word makes me hate feeling like a fuddy-duddy even more.) I still need to stitch up one of my gun holsters, however, as it fell apart during the club crawl. Must do that quickly tonite before the little ones come around seeking candy. Moxie and her crew had a great discussion re:dating. How the world is full of dorks, so to speak, and it takes quite a while to come across a good one. One person suggested perhaps lowering standards since they are possibly too high. This is me speaking, uhh, sorry, not gonna do that. However, I do relate to Moxie's, I guess you could say, anxiousness about finding someone in time to have kids. Personally, kids are always going to be in the picture for my future, with or without a husband. I figure, give me 5 years or so when I'll be financially stable and all that good stuffs and then I'll go seeking good ...
Peek-a-boo Well, last nite's date turned into a non-event. Me and the guy, we'll call him Moschino, never found one another at the theatre. When we both got home we talked it over and he says he was waiting at the top of the escalator and there I was waiting at the bottom. Honest mistake or polite excuse? I can't tell. He says "maybe next time." I'll let him decide if there's a next time 'cuz I don't really do the asking, it's not my thing. That being said, it was kinda cold last nite. Decided to console(?) myself for the non-date with some shopping. Picked up the 8 Mile soundtrack which I totally forgot was released yesterday. Good stuffs but I don't know why they had to corrupt it with some Macy Gray. I really can't stand her voice. I wish it would snow some more. It should snow hardcore. There's just something beautiful and comforting about the snow, even more refreshing than rain. It is definitely a time for a c...
Walking in a winter wonderland I ask you: Where is the beautiful snow of yesterday? The roads show no signs of snow, just wetness. Same with the sidewalks. Where is all the gorgeous snow??? I decided to walk to work outside yesterday instead of the plus 15s. All the beautiful chubby snowflakes...I couldn't help but smile. Ended up 5 minutes late for work, but it didn't faze me at all. Don't people realize that the coming of snow means that we should all slow down and relax? Animals hibernate in the winter, to an extent we ought to be doing the same thing. Winter means tumbling about in the snow with the little ones, followed by yummy hot chocolate. It means snuggling under a blanket with a loved one while watching some TV while everything dulls down to a hush outside. Winter is all about walking around outside enjoying the purity and serenity of the snow blanketing a world that just doesn't know how to calm down and take it easy. Why are you all running a...

Where's your head at? And so here I am with my costume that I loved so much. World, meet Leah Croft: Tomb Raider. Unfortunately for me, there were 2 other chicks on my crawl who had the same idea. But I had the better costume amongst us 3. Ok, so I look too happy and friendly to actually shoot anyone or anything with those pistols, but hey, I was about to go out and drink. Like the real Lara Croft wouldn't have been that happy herself! Before we went off to begin our journey to the Palace, I turned to Daisy's mom and said "Don't worry, we'll behave. I'll make sure nothing happens to her." 2nd stop: Twisted. Bring on the Tabu! Discoteca numero tres: Cowboys. 4 dollar Smirnoff Ice? Alright, it's a bargain, I'll take it. Shooters: 1 for 4 dollars or 2 for 5? Well give me two, then, I like to get my money's worth. And the killer bee says to me: "Be a good girl and put this on." Alas, Leah Croft and Flapper Dai...
Higher now, in the sky. You make me feel like I can fly so high. It's elevation. And I'm pooped. Fabulous weekend, all in all. And I didn't even freeze my ass off like I had feared. Saturday was the beloved Halloween Howler. Next year should be the best, 3rd time's always a charm. This year, our second Howler, was at least better than the first. We started at the Palace, next stop was Twisted, followed by Cowboys, and ending at Outlaws. Does anyone else out there sense a jip? 4 bars instead of 5 and yet it costs MORE money than last year? Ah well, it's the experience you're paying for, really. Palace was great, as always. Dragged Daisy up with me to the platform to join in on the costume contest. Friggin' thing was...we got on the wrong platform! All us costume contestant hopefuls (a bunch of sailor guys, the 3 pumpkineers - who knows where that came from, a handful of hutterites, and Curious George with the man in the yellow hat) on the wro...
Tweak it out 24 hours until Halloween Howler 2002 Can you stand it? I still have finishing touches to do on my costume. I'm so excited! This is gonna be a blast! If only it would warm up a little bit. For all the readers who are having warmer weather right now, PLEASE throw a little my way for tomorrow. Even just a couple of degrees each, even if it's Fahrenheit degrees. Otherwise I shall be one nipply vixen tomorrow. Or maybe that's what people want. I hate being nipply. There's always that issue when it gets cold...nipples get so hard they could, well, they could cut glass, as they say. One cold winter day my best friend was laughing at me 'cuz my nipples were showing through my ultra warm, ultra thick, down-filled jacket. Now THAT is major nippleage right there. This year I bought a new down jacket 'cuz I love those. Wool coats look smart, but down jackets are just urbane and phat (no pun intended). It's like having a perpetual hug to ke...

Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away I've known Sunny since 10th grade Physics. We rolled with 2 separate crowds, somedays I'd hang with her and her crew and once in a while I'd invite her out with my posse. She's a wonderful girl. I considered, and still consider, her a lot closer to me than many people who I would see on a more regular basis. Yay me for my marvelous instinct on this one. She was an infallible friend throughout our entire university journey. I still consider her infallible. She has never failed me as a friend. Even for stoopid little predicaments I get myself into; like getting stranded at Posie's house when there's no more transit service available. She made it to my debut after Easter Vigil with her family, even though I'm sure she would've wanted to spend that time with them. When I told her I had cancer, she showed me a tape she had of radiation therapy and helped me understand what to expect. And the wonderful thing ...

She's got a ticket to ride I'm going on the club crawl! After some crazy commuting on Daisy's part and some madness for both of us, we (or more like it, SHE, as in Daisy) was able to get us crawl tix at the Bustloose office at a savings of 8 dollars for each of us. Hey, don't laugh, that's pretty much enuf savings to cover the taxi that'll take our sorry hedonistic asses home that nite. I had a huge grin on my face as we made our way home. I'm ecstatic to be part of all the festivities yet again. We both agree that no club crawl would ever top our very first one. It was my last year of uni and I wanted to celebrate my final "official" BSD in style. I called out all the regular people to join me on the club crawl. As per usual, the only people who accompanied me are the tried and true Daisy, and luckily, my best friend Posie. And this was just them being kind...they were hesitant to shell out the money (18 dollars...if only we recognize...
Google me this Well, ain't that interesting? Here I was searching for a specific line from Saturday Night Fever and the search actually brought me a link to my blog. WTF? So I played around with Google for a bit, thinking of little phrases I may have put in my blog over the past month. I'm the number 1 search result when u type in "dessert slut" *giggles* Always good to know. Now that I'm thinking about Saturday Night Fever, I might as well throw this question to the wind and see who answers. When pathetic lil Bobby C falls off the Brooklyn Bridge, what exactly does Double J say? Everytime I get to that scene (and we've already mentioned that I do watch this scene over and over again) I remember about not having any clue what he says, followed by about 3 rewinds to see if I can understand him THIS time, and never with any success. I've looked for SNF scripts online, to no avail. What does Double J say??? It's like memorizing a whole song...

The color of my world © What's your Inner Goddess Color?? © Jen The RAINBOW Goddess represents all aspects of the color spectrum. Those who are Rainbow have the deepest significance to people throughout all the phases of their life. They have more influence on those around them than one can possibly imagine. They often help others by strengthening, soothing and inspiring them.
Come out and play! Talk about a sad chain of events. Daisy and I shall be going to the Bustloose office this evening to buy Halloween Howler club crawl tickets. For how many? For two. TWO!!! Daisy. Me. Nobody else. How does that happen? Everybody was talking about this for at least a couple of months. But then people started to slide. Sunny was thinking of things financially and thought better of going on the crawl. Understandably enuf, Sunny Boy (*l* U think he'd kill me for giving him that nickname?) supported his wife's decision and backed down. This ruined the costume plans of Aqua Boy (hmmm...this is a lot easier for nicknaming the siggy others of my friends) and C-Boy who were going to be the Three Stooges together. Hence, neither wanted to continue on with the Halloween festivities. Then, you guessed it, their siggy others (or I think they're their siggy others? Either way, they're "co-dependent" somehow *s*), Aqua and T-Girl backed ou...

If only my hair were longer... "Presenting Lil Mija, specially made for Leah by the makers of Barbie® doll! Leah, meet Lil Mija! Lil Mija is a friend of Barbie(R) doll and everything from her eyes to her hair was chosen by you! Lil Mija has a wonderful sense of style and loves dressing with flair! Lil Mija is a business woman with a great love for dance. When she's not busy working, Lil Mija goes shopping and dances. She lives in a house with her family, and she loves pigging out on tacos! Lil Mija can't wait to be your new best friend. That's why she comes with lots of love and good wishes just for you!" That's right, better recognize that I'm a doll!
You know you want me Friday afternoon was cruel. Civic and I had gone to the latest Sunterra Market concept for lunch. He had it dead on when he said it was like an amusement park. Complete with the long lines and the different booths of attraction...you've got the creperie, you've got the big pan, you've got the pizza and pasta corner, yadda yadda yadda. We split the special feature pizza, Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli. That was scrumptious! Huge disaster for dessert, though...not a single slice of tiramisu in sight! I was dejected. After work I couldn't shake the tiramisu off my mind so I trekked to the other Sunterra in search of the elusive treat. Alas, no tiramisu there, either. But now a new dessert was seducing me...a huge slab of chocolate cake with white icing and strawberries on top. I should have walked away, I had come to have my tiramisu, not chocolate cake. The cake would not hear any of it, though. It said to me "Tiramisu's not her...
Take back the nite Man, I haven't had a late nite in a while....that's such an "old person" thing to do. I've been home before 12:30 this whole weekend. Thankfully the Halloween pub crawl is next weekend. It promises to be a blast. I had heard quite a few sources talk of how the movie Secretary was good stuffs so that was what Daisy and I had planned on watching Friday nite. However since it's an artsy-non-mainstream sort of movie (I'm really liking those these days) it was only playing at the Plaza and quite typical of us, we didn't get our act together quick enough and ended up late for the late showing. All was good, though. Strolled up and down Kensington Village and had some Indian food at Tandoori Hut. Hoooo, spicy stuffs...and that was mild! I have no idea how I'm going to sample the wares of the world with such a sensitive palate. It was a beautiful evening, lots of kitschy people all over the village, it was nice to be a part o...
Have I got a deal for you! Wow, I thought I was completely out to lunch with the whole "selling oneself" and "used car salesmen" analogy but Rabbit actually has a blog entry that spells out the same thing I was trying to say. Good stuffs! I also practically fell out of my chair a couple of days ago when I noticed Meesh added me to her list of links! I am so privileged, I feel like I've just entered high school and was immediately accepted by the "cool group." Good stuffs, again!
All aboard the love train I fell in love on the C-Train today. Some jerk beat me to the last seat on the train, leaving me to stand. I take a good look at this prick, ingraining his face into my head so I can extract my revenge at a later time. Unfortunately for me, said jerk was a hottie. Later still, hottie turns out not to be a jerk. An elderly lady boards the train,. He touches her on her forearm and offers her the seat, much to her and my delight. A true gentleman in this day and age! A vision in a light blue polyester Kappa warm-up jacket with yummy tousled-to-perfection hair. He leans closer towards me....damn he smelled so divine. I think that will be the only time in my life when I would have wished the train were more crowded so I could stay pinned closer to him. Of course things never work my way, train empties out even further. But now I get a nice look at his ass, and what a nice-looking ass it is. I spend 1/3 of the ass-gazing time pondering the injustice o...
I won't be alright after this I watched The Bachelor 2 last nite, another one of my guilty television indulgences. Yet another female breaks down on national (or is it considered international since it gets broadcast in Canada in addition to the US?) tv over a "relationship" gone terribly wrong. What I love most about these people is how they'll always say "I didn't know what I was getting myself into" all miserable with regret, it never fails. I remember the first Bachelor when that crazy girl couldn't breathe after being eliminated from the show. "Please, if I could have just one breath!" So melodramatic and over the top. Anyone who could feel "true love" under the premises of such a show has got to have serious issues. It's kind of sad, to see people who are worn and pathetic have a freak attack over a stranger. Last nite was no different, that Christi girl is a complete psycho. I was relieved that Aaron got ri...
Don't worry 'bout nothing Told Daisy about my Tabu incident over the weekend. Civic said she'd love the story and sure enough, she did. After watching fob-ball we had all headed home to rest a lil bit before mass and I finally decided to pop open my bottle of Tabu that had been sitting in the fridge since Friday nite. Chatting with Mijo, shooting the breeze, sipping Tabu...totally overestimated the "down" time I'd have at home. Ended up having to guzzle the elixir down in less than half an hour. The results were amusing, thankfully not disastrous. Good thing the godmother rode with the parents and us "kids" followed behind in godbrother's car. Let out two loud burps in the car (unlady-like, and un-Leah-like...particularly 'cuz I cannot burp on command), earning me the nickname of the day as "drunkard." As much as I do not mind Church and I actually get something out of it for the most part, mass is even more entertaining w...
I'm not always there when you call, but I'm always on time. And I gave you my all, now baby be mine That is soooo not my anthem. I'm horrible about calling people. Rarely am I ever on time. And if someone is not satisfied with how much effort I'm putting into something, well, screw them. I entered a last-minute email contest with the promoters of Ashanti's show at Cowboys tonite, and la di da, yours truly won. Aqua was gracious enuf to accompany me to the hallowed event. Alas, we are getting too old for the Cowboy's scene (although I've always felt above the Cowboy's scene from the start) and we jetted before Ashanti even sang a single riff. Dang opening acts. I give credit to the Alliance Soundcrew, though, they were amazing. I've never seen them do their thing live, so I was blessed tonite.
Thankee much Ah, Thanksgiving weekend is upon us Canadians. Had one dinner already tonite, one more to go tomorrow. Good thing I love turkey. It hasn't been a bad weekend so far, and it's only 2/3 done! Friday after work I had dinner with Sunflower and Aqua. Had my philly cheesesteak at Moxie's as per usual. Had a bellini, as per usual. (Note: had another bellini at BPs later that nite, BP bellinis are crap) Latina and Daisy met up with me later and we went and watched Rules of Attraction. That movie was interesting, to say the least. I left the theatre not knowing what I thought of the movie. I didn't hate it, but I wasn't sure if I liked it. It lacked a lot of depth, in my opinion. But it did peak my interest in knowing more about the characters so I think I'll read the book. It was almost as if you were supposed to read the book as homework in preparation for watching the movie. So many questions I had about the movie were answered on the ba...
Yours for only $26.95! More to add on Sunflower's and Aqua's blogs. I think all three of us have pretty much come to a consensus that that old cliche "beauty comes from within" actually works. It's not just about the packaging, you have to have confidence on what you've got on the outside as well. It may be corny, but after being in retail for over five years now, I really believe that if you really believe in a product/service, then you can sell it a lot better. And not like we are pimping ourselves, but we constantly have to sell ourselves on other people. Whether it's going for a new job, meeting a new friend/boyfriend/girlfriend's parents, a first date, or trying to get that person across the room to come over and talk to you, you have to convince them that what they need/want is you. You have to sell them on what your best features are, what they potentially gain by taking you on, why they should choose you above all others. If you have...
See no evil? Hear no evil? Aqua asked the question: would you rather be blind or deaf? Talk about a tough one. While I can't imagine what it would be like to stumble around in life because you can not see, I think if things changed suddenly tomorrow, I would rather be blind than deaf. At this point in our lives, we have seen our loved ones, seen things we like and dislike, enough that we will always have a memory of them in our minds. But to immediately be deprived of hearing their voices, and music (as we all know, music is really important to me) would crush my spirit a lot more than if I couldn't see them, I think. Perhaps I'm more of an aural person, and plus my eyesight being sketchy at times (particularly during vain bar jaunts when I refuse to wear my glasses), I would miss hearing more. While seeing someone's facial expressions can communicate more than words, the same can be said by their tone, though to a more subtle extent. I think I would be sooth...
Your eyes are like a gateway to another world, and I would love to be a part of that I heard this on a teaser commercial for that sitcom Good Morning Miami (man, unless that show starts to get funny, I can't imagine it sticking around very long). It may be a horrible show, but when I heard that line I was like "Damn, that's pretty good." Of course, now noone will ever be able to use it, but I admired their romantic cheesiness coming up with that line. That whole thing made me think about eyes and what I think about them and what I love about them, blah blah blah. This gave me the idea of doing a five segment commentary on things that just pop into my head with regards to each of the five senses. Today is obviously sight. Sunflower has a whole bunch of entries regarding physical appearances and attraction. She goes further as to discuss what she considers the line between being shallow and what is justified for not giving others a chance. I'm uncertain a...
I was looking so good, I couldn't reject myself Ah, the girls are following suit into blogland, good stuffs. Have more to read when work gets slow *s*. SunMoon girl is getting ready to head out to an exclusive island in the Caribbean, Guana in the British Virgin Islands. She'll be a massage therapist to their high-class clientele for 6 months. I swear, some people have all the luck. SunMoon and I have been friends since 4th grade, so about 14 years now. (Whoa, 4th grade was 14 years ago!!!) There were times when I treated her like shit, which makes it miraculous that we're still friends, really. But I'm extremely grateful that we're still pals. I haven't travelled much without my family, but when I did (which was usually through school activities) she was always there with me. The way these trips always worked themselves out, she said it was as if I wanted boyfriends all over the world. (I prefer to call them Hot Boyz, a la Missy Elliott) I dunno wh...
Saturday Night Cold So it's a lame spinoff on Saturday Night Fever. Sacrilege, I know. Bite me. I'm sneezing like there's no tomorrow, and my nose is sooo stuffed up, it's probably for the best that I stayed home tonite. But I feel so....so....fuddy duddy! And I seriously seriously hate that word! Aaargh. Blogging on a Saturday nite, whodathunkit? So, Civic stood up Daisy and me last nite. Her and I ended up planning to meet for a late coffee, only to have me miss my bus....and then the Second Cup close to me was closed...and then the Second Cup close was occupied by a girl that really scares me (we'll call her Ribsy) so I refused to go in there. Not to be deterred, we ended up at BP's for noshies and chats. And to back up my stories from the previous blog. Daisy SO remembers the crusty shorts incident and she wasn't even there. (Daisy and Lethal are best friends.) So even if Lethal doesn't remember the crusty shorts, Daisy does, and so n...
Boobhickies Had lunch with Civic again, it was his first time trying the wares at Reto & The Machine (*giggles* He kept the dish, too, now I don't feel as gimpy.) Had myself a mango Glacier Ice which for some reason took longer to make than Civic's pasta. *shrugs* Also, the poster says something like "A different experience, not ice cream, not a sorbet." and yet my receipt has right on it "mango sorbet." Love it when things are super clear like that. Civic had taken the "Caution: Hot!" sticker from the Reto plate and stuck it on his shirt. It reminded me of this one chick I saw on the bus who had made a button out of those "Made for you" stickers they put on McD burgers without pickles/mustard/whatever. I thought it was genius at the time and I was gonna bite her idea and make one for myself, then McD's changes their stickers so now it's not as perfect. Sucks. On my way back to work I saw a girl from jr. high we...
Augh, more frustrations in internet-land. enetation has been miserably inconsistent with my commenting system so I switched over to the other comments provider I had signed up for, Haloscan. Hopefully these guys are tons better. I apologize to all the people who posted comments that are now lost, please comment again! *s* And thanks to Meesh for tagging my guestmap. You're my hero!
The world is mine! Woo hoo! I now have my very own guestmap that I've been envying other blogs for. Sooo exciting. It just gets better and better. Although I suspect that at this point in the "blog game" most of my maptags will be from the exact same spot on the map, it'll still be kewl. Someday I'm gonna be a blogging star alongside the likes of Meesh and Scaryduck , then people from all over the world will be tagging my map. While I was working my retail job last weekend a customer just said straight out "You have very silky hair...it's very shiny." Bless her heart! I always forget how compliments can make everyone feel good. Daisy is great with doling out compliments to everyone. I've found I tend to be more stingy with them; must change that. That customer had ironic timing that day, I was feeling extremely down about my hair as it is still falling out due to the radiation therapy I received. (Based on Chinookbug's radiati...
Thickie-thick girl Series and season premieres abound this month in TV-land. Some days it can be very stressful (like tonite, what am I going to do??? Bachelor 2 and Amazing Race 2 are both on at the same time! Which one do I watch and which do I tape?) and other nites it can be pretty dead. There was a lotta hype in the paper yesterday about a new sitcom called Less Than Perfect. Big (no pun intended) selling point of the show was that the main character is a full figured woman. I decided to give it a peek. It would be a great show, for sure, if it weren't for them being so shallow and stereotypical. First off, the title: Less Than Perfect. Give me a break! The whole concept of a show based on a full-figured girl trying to fit in with the gorgeous size 8s is ridiculous. I would hope I'm the one who isn't the norm, but I've never had a problem with people teasing me about my size, and I've always had great rapport with the "in" crowds in jr. ...
Let's do the time warp again Well, if that wasn't a frustration and a half! I was posting my blog entry last nite and the site went missing...luckily when I went back it was still there and I had learnt better. I quickly cut and paste my entry into an email so I could post it later from another comp. For a high-end state of the art machine, my brother's comp doesn't like Blogger much and always screws up my blogging. Oh well, now I know. Hooray, I got a new comment on my blog! I knew I would get someone with the transit vs. cars debate *l* She does have a point, it used to be a bit unnerving encountering drunks on transit...but now I'm able to laugh it off like the walking jokes they are. I had this one lady approach me yesterday at TD Square asking for a dollar-twenty-five for a hot chocolate, PLEASE. She already knew what I was going to say, obviously, 'cuz she threw in that "please" so emphatically. I'm sorry, but if you come at me r...
Should read: Monday, September 30, 2002 Ah, the weekend. Other people may have found my weekend boring, but it sure pooped me out. Can't say I would've had it any other way. Friday was dinner with the girls, Sunflower and Aqua. We manage to find some common time maybe once a month or so. Fortunately for the lil group, Daisy was able to make a showing a lil later to share dessert and a martini. We're all pretty diffy people now. Not that we weren't all diffy from one another before, but we're more able to be our diffy selves. I remember back in the day when we all did the same things just for a lack of anything better to do together. Now we get to do more of our own thing. Aqua prefers the more laid back scene with bowling and beer, Sunflower is even more laid back and is content with chilling at home conversing with her boo, while Daisy and I are still trying to live it up comparing ourselves with the social vixens of the likes of Sex and the City. Ima...
